President Paul Kagame on Saturday, July 4 launched a series of transformational projects of which among included the Gishoro model village in Kigali City.
Kagame inaugurated Gishuro Model Village, home to 64 families comprising of an early childhood development centre, a school with 2 smart classrooms featuring 50 computers with internet access in each one,3 rehabilitated classrooms designated for laboratories and a rehabilitated library with 30 computers.
The projects were unveiled in Tabagwe Sector in Nyagatare District, built by the Ministry of Defence and the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).
The president also launched a modern school, Groupe Scolaire Tabagwe comprising of 22 rehabilitated primary school classrooms for 1,418 students and 25 rehabilitated secondary school classrooms for 903 students.
In 2019-2020 Rwanda saw the construction of 14 model villages which has benefitted 318 families, and 286 housing units for Genocide survivors which benefitted 561 families.
The 2019 Kigali apartments for the valnurable
In 2019 the president launched the first Villa of its kind for the evacuated people from high risk areas living around Kigali city.
The Model Village in Kigali city is now located in Karama village, Kigali cell, Nyarugenge district.
The project built in 6 months by the Rwanda Defence Forces RDF costed 8.2 billion Rwanda Francs
The apartments are now homes for 240 families.
It also comprised of living apartments, a secondary school, and an Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) with running piped water, electricity, paved roads, modern facilities for poultry farming as well as greenhouses.
These projects have been an annual achievement for Rwanda to commemorate liberation day, not the day when president Kagame took power but the end of the foreign sponsored Genocide.
