Boat kills 10 people, injures 100 after hitting rock.

Tanzania.Kigoma Regional Police Commander ACP James Manyama said 10 people had been killed and 100 others rescued, after a boat on the Sibosa area was hit by a storm and hit a rock and burst into Lake Tanganyika.

Commander Manyama issued the same statement today July 31, 2020, while speaking to reporters, where he said that the accident happened yesterday July 30 at 5:00 am.

“A boat carrying about 100 people, and when it was in the water was hit by a severe storm and hit a rock and then burst, and about 100 people were rescued resulting in the deaths of 10 people, 3 women, 1 man and 6 children, the rescue operation continues today we suspect there may be bodies in the water “said Commander Manyama.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Physician of Uvinza Dr. Ruben Mwakilima, he said that the bodies have been kept at the Kalya Dispensary and the bodies of four people have already been taken by their relatives.
